Bürgenstock Hotels & Resort with legendary history

The idea of a hotel on the Bürgenberg, on Lake Lucerne, was born in the second half of the 19th century, in the wake of the increasingly popular alpinism and the beginnings of spa tourism in Switzerland. In 1873, Franz Josef Bucher and Josef Durrer opened the Hotel Bürgenstock before it became the property of Friedrich Frey-Fürst in the 1920s. Thanks to modernisation and expansion, the hotel on Lake Lucerne developed into a world-renowned venue with prominent guests such as Audrey Hepburn, Konrad Adenauer, Jimmy Carter and Indira Ghandi. Following the extensive renovation, which took nine years and ended in 2017, the Bürgenstock is now experiencing a brilliant revival.

Some iconic features of the “old” Hotel Bürgenstock have been preserved, for example the famous Hollywood pool where Sean Connery already did his rounds.
